Happy New Years

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas this year! I got some awesome presents, I got a new camera! I'm super excited, it has 24 optical zoom. I also got New Super Mario Brothers Wii, which I have been wanting!

My new years resolution is to find a job, apply to grad schools, and to exercise more.

Santa is coming to town...

(country)....

Oh my goodness... Christmas is upon us now! I can't believe this year has flown by so fast! I am super excited for Christmas this year, but a little lonely. This year it is my brothers' turns to go to their inlaws for Christmas and not my parents house. So I will be the only kid at home. Cole and Brandi are planning on stopping by, I'm sure, but they are really spending the holidays with Brandi's family. Phillip, Allie, and kids are going to Allie's family. Which leave me at my parents. It should be an exciting event though! I love spending time with my parents.

The number one thing I am excited for on Christmas Eve.... LIFE!!!! You have no idea how much I love this game. It is my favorite. Sadly, last year we didn't get to play, but we are going to make up for it this year. I also have a few puzzles to work on! This is a tradition every year. Last year, I did a puzzle in one night, we'll see if I can beat that this year.

And the coolest thing of all! You can TRACK SANTA!!!!!!!!! This site tells you all about where Santa is and when he is coming to your house. (I'll give you a hint, its around midnight usually...) Anyways, I hope you all have a

Wow...

I can't believe how fast this year is going by. It is already finals week! And the best of all, I only have one take home final! I was suppose to have three but one got canceled and the other one I may or may not go and take depending on what my score was on our last test, which I'll get tomorrow.

It just seems so crazy to me because this means that after I turn in my take home final, I only have one semester left of my undergraduate career! I can't believe how fast this is going by. During Christmas break, I'm going to be studying for the GRE so I can spend the month of January and part of February applying for grad school. And then after that I plan on looking for a real person job!

I just need to decide where I'm really willing to move to. On one hand I would love to go just about anywhere. But on the other hand, I would rather stay near my family. I just hope that things work out for the best!

Car Crashes...

Seriously... I must have the worst luck with my car now. Not even a year ago, I got in my first car accident/ticket. I rear-ended a car and then got rear-ended. Since then, I got in an accident on my way home to Idaho when a truck with their tailgate down pulled out and stopped and I hit their tailgate.

And today, the best of them all...

I was at Burger's Etc. in Burley in the drive through, when this lady in front of me proceeds to first pull up onto the curb then pop into reverse and back right into me. Like I don't mean just got accidentally too close, she actually didn't see me behind her in a drive through. It was RIDICULOUS!!!

On a different note, Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all have a great day! And enjoy all your friends and family!

Pictures!

I love getting my picture taken! I always think its a lot of fun. Anyways, this Friday (the 13th), I went out with my friend Stephanie and we took some senior pictures for me to use in graduation announcements come May.

And now the problem arises. I have to pick which pictures are the best! And the funny thing is, I have another friend doing some other pictures for me too at a later date. So there are going to be even more to choose from later.

But for now, here are my favorites from my session with Steph. (It might help to click on the picture and make it larger to see them all because I just made a collage because it was easier.) Let me know what you think!

Birthday with Family

This is me opening my cards from my family! My brother, Phillip, gave a funny card. It said you can pick yer nose, but you can't pick yer family! You can't roll em and flick em either. Hahahaha. It was totally Phillip.

I asked for a crock pot for my birthday! And boy is this like the most awesome crockpot ever! Not only is it black! But it comes with three different size pots. It works amazingly too! I made a roast on Sunday in it and it tasted great!

And last but not least, our waiter and the servers at Tucano's were AWESOME!!! Our waiter looked like Zac Efron, which was kinda funny. He had a great smile too! ;-) They even sang to me!

Happy Halloween!!!!

I may be a day late and a dollar short but hey at least now I have the pictures. Halloween this year was a lot of fun. My friends Mandy, her husband Matt, Brian, and I hosted a Halloween party! It was fun and we played games until it was no longer Halloween. We even had a random Luigi come into their house and say "awkward." This was because Matt was Mario, and Brian was Luigi. It was really creepy and funny at the same time.

Also, some of our friends were dressed as the Twilight cast. There was Jacob, with the cutoff jeans and no shoes! Edward, that actually sparkled. And Bella, who was beautiful as always!

The night before, Brian and I carved some pumpkins. I carved an H1N1 puking pumpkin, a pumpkin pi, and a ghost that says "BOO!" Brian carved a fishbowl that had Nemo's dad Marlin Dory.

I also made part of my costume, the daisies, and part of Brian's costume, the hat and some buttons for the suspenders.

A week ago, I carved a spider into a baby pumpkin and the next day I carved a web for the spider! They turned out awesome! I had such a good Halloween. I hope this next week goes as well!

Oh, and in case you didn't know, my (ack) 23 birthday is on Friday!

SWEet Conference

Oh my gosh I am in love with SWE even more than I ever was before. This has been one of the best experiences I've ever had. Not only did I get to go to a taping of the Price is Right, where I got to run on stage! (Watch Dec. 18!!!) But I got to learn a lot about myself and about other women in engineering. There were over 4000 other women in engineering at this conference in Long Beach, CA. I even got to do an interview with one of the Senator's for region D. It was so much fun and I'm so glad I got to go! I'll blog more about it later!

I love...

HALLOWEEN!!!

So, I was looking online for some cute ideas for carving a pumpkin when I ran across this awesome idea from Martha Stewart... and I LOVE IT!!!!

Seriously? How cute is that!?!?! I want to go and make one sometime soon. I need to find the right pumpkin though. Here is the link to the instructions though!

If you run across any sweet halloween ideas, let me know! I'm super excited to hear about them!

Sometime...

I don't really know what to make of life. Its quite the challenge. One day you think everything is going just perfect, and the next you realize it was nothing like you thought it was. I hope things start to look up from here. But we'll see.

But on a different note... Apparently they are coming out with a LEGO's rockband! Which I think is just awesome! I think its funny and would love to play it when it comes out!

Halloween!

So I've decided what I am going to be for Halloween. Well, actually I decided this a while ago but its getting better! I am going to be Super Princess Daisy! And to make it even better, I think I convinced some of my friends to go as the rest of the gang. And we are going to have a HALLOWEEN PARTY!!! I'm so excited! I hope we look as cool as these people!

So if you have any great ideas for like food or spookiness let me know!

WOWZER!

Seriously, I can't believe that August is OVER!!! How crazy is that! I just wish it would cool down some. Well here's some fun information. I started my SENIOR year last Monday. It seems so crazy to be able to call myself a real senior in college. I only have 12 credits this semester, which should give me time to focus on my classes and enjoying my last two semesters.

Also, some big news, I'm getting LASIK on Friday! NO more glasses or contacts for me! HOORAY!!! I'm so excited! I've been wanting to get lasik for a long time and it's finally happening!

Anyways, I really need to get ahead in my classes this week so I don't have to worry about as much next weekend! I hope everyone had a great August!

I'm totally not keeping up on my blog right now. I'm totally sorry! I promise I will write more soon. However, just to keep ya updated... I'm working graves right now at CE&MT but only for another week or so. My last day is next Thursday! I'm more than excited. I then get to move back to Moen and resume life as a PM! I'm excited! I hope all is well!

FIREWORKS!!!!

NYC has the coolest fireworks ever! From where we stood, we could see 4 of the 5 shows in the air. They all were the same, I think a building was just hiding the 5th one. But I put together a little video for you to see how cool the fireworks were there! I had to speed it up (4X) so that it wouldn't take as long to watch the video. But I think you get the point!

The fireworks show lasted approximately 26 minutes! It was to music, but we didn't have a radio. I would love to go see NYC's fireworks again and again. It was just amazing. I hope you enjoy the video!

I am going to be taking my mom's polaroid camera while I'm there too which will be a lot of fun! Hopefully I'll get some great pictures! Not only that, but I get to go to a New York Yankees game with Brian and Mercer! (Mercer is one of my bestest friends ever!) I can't wait! I'll post pictures and everything when I get back!

Oh and the fireworks! I'm very excited for them too! :)

Happy Father's Day

I just wanted to take a moment to tell my daddy how much I love him! I love spending time with you no matter what we're doing. Whether it be playing games or talking about work. I loved that you would take time out of your day to help me with things like hitting in softball, or designing my bridges for school. I loved when I got to ride to work with you everyday last summer and all the discussions we would talk about. I love that you look at magazines at work and think of me and bring them home for me to read! You are a great father and I love you! Thanks for being awesome!

Family Get Together

Last weekend, my family all went to Rupert and we spent the weekend together! It was a lot of fun to see everyone. We had some exciting animal situations too. There was a baby Killdeer nest in the field of weeds next to my parents house. And when we got there, there was just four eggs. The next day there was two of the birds hatched, and by the time we got home from church on Sunday, the little birds were running around like crazy! It was awesome to see them up and moving so fast.

We also went to Albion for dinner, which is always delicious! Afterward, we decided to take a drive up to Pomerelle and on the way up the mountain, we saw a MOOSE! It was ridiculously close! However, my camera didn't get a very good picture of it. But Alli did!

It was a great weekend to spend time with family.

New York here I come!!!!

I am so excited! Brian got moved to Long Island from DC for the summer and I get to go visit him! Not only do I get to go to New York for the first time, I get to go over the 4th of July. My favorite holiday! I am going to see one of the best firework shows in the US. I also get to go see my favorite bridge of all times... the Brooklyn Bridge! You have no idea how excited I am for this!

Polaroids!

My favorite are the second one of the ducklings, because the little bird is flapping his wings, The railroad tracks, and the bridge (of course!)

Polaroids!

Oh my goodness! I love polaroids right now! After church today I went to the Willow Park Zoo in Logan. Its quite a small zoo but its really cute! They even have two wallabies among other things. While I was there I took some polaroid pictures with my mom's polaroid camera that I borrowed last time I was home. And it was so much fun just playing with the different features. As soon as I go steal Brian's printer/scanner, I'll scan them in and post them on here!

Phew!

Wow, what a couple of weeks it's been. I have been so busy its been unbelievable! Work is a lot of fun but I get so dirty everyday! I feel like I'm pulling dirt from every part of my body! But I have been enjoying it a lot. Basically, I weigh, cook, sort, and sift dirt. And I'm not even kidding! :)

Anyways, I don't have internet at my apartment yet. But hopefully I'll figure something out soon! I hope you all are having a great summer!

Happy Mommy's Day

So I wanted to do this yesterday but I didn't really have the chance, seeing as I don't have internet when I'm in Logan unless I go up to campus. Anyways...

I just wanted to wish my mommy and all the other mommy's out there a Happy Mother's Day! I love my mom very much and she is an awesome influence on my life! I love when we get to share things together. Our bargain shopping adventures, going to/watching movies together, and just spending good times together! I hope that when I am older and am a mommy that I can have a good relationship with my kids like my mom and I have. I know we have our difficulties at times but who doesn't! Anyways, I just wanted to say I love you mom!

I GOT A JOB!!!!!!

YAY!!! Finally, the news has come and I have a job for the summer! I will be working at CE&MT out of Farr West. I will be living in Logan, somewhere, and driving to their office about a half a mile from Smith and Edwards, my favorite store! I'm so excited to finally have a job for the summer!

Also, I think I may be buying a season pass to Lagoon if anyone wants to join me there sometime! Now, I just need to find the place I will be living at during the summer! I hope its not too late to get one of the cheaper places!

WICKED!!!

On Thursday, the girls in my family went to Wicked in SLC. This was honestly the best experience I could have asked for! We started the day out by going to Tai Pan, which has the cutest house decorating things! I ended up buying a vase and fake calla lilies. Then we went to lunch at Zupas! It's a great fast food restaraunt that serves soups, salads, and sandwiches. It was delicious! Then we headed to the Capital Theater to watch Wicked. If you haven't ever seen Wicked, I really recommend it! It's a great story! Its kind of how the wicked witch of the west became the wicked witch of the west. Afterwards, we went to the Melting Pot to have dessert! DELICIOUS!!! Got to love chocolate fondue! This was honestly a great day! I couldn't have asked for a better day!

And to top things off! The night before we had an awesome birthday party for Cole, Hannah, and Allie! It was a great couple of days!

Frustrating

So... I've been applying for jobs for the summer for the last three to four months. And I haven't had any luck. This has been really frustrating me. I've had interviews with a couple of people but haven't heard anything back from them. I've emailed them and everything. I am reaching a point of not knowing what to do. So, if you know of an engineering firm that will hire a civil engineer, let me know because it would be very useful to have a job.

To top things off, my housing job has been quite frustrating. I'm not sure what I want to do with it. They want me to be in charge of two floors next year but for half the pay of what I'm doing now. They are willing to cut back my responsibilities but its kind of hard to change some of the responsibilities of a job that is so involved in peoples lives. I was also thinking about doing the summer RA job but I decided against it because I am already burned out of housing and it would just be too frustrating to do that this summer as well. So this means that I need to find housing for the summer. But I need to guarantee that I will have a job for the summer before I for sure get housing.

But on a good note, I am going to Wicked on Thursday! I am so excited for this! It really should be an awesome experience! And to top it off, I get to celebrate birthdays with my family on Wednesday night! We get to celebrate Cole, Hannah, and Allie! Hannah turned 2!

Holga Camera

I want one of these! I think they are awesome!

Not only are they a real film camera. But they mess with the pictures in the process. So things don't always turn out the way you expect them to! I think they are pretty sweet!

You can learn more about a Holga Camera here!

Spring Break

So.. its spring break... and I am in Rupert! Woot Rupert! I love Rupert, most of the time. But sometimes, like now, I would rather be somewhere else. By Tuesday night, I had already read four books and had started on some homework. It's crazy to think that I can either read books that fast or have that much time on my hands to read the books. The funny thing is, three of the books were read Monday and Tuesday only. But life is good. I went and bought another book today so I have something to read. I also have to do some more homework. This is me getting ahead in engineering. I didn't think that was possible.

On another note, I only have 22 credits left after this semester! How exciting is that?! I still have two semesters left but only taking 12 credits each semester will rock (I'll add a PE class to the mix). Also, I hopefully, get to go to Peru a week or two after the semester is over! I'm part of a club called Engineers Without Borders, and we do an engineering project for a community in need. USU has three separate teams, Peru, Mexico, and Uganda! I'm so excited to go to Peru! Also, I had an interview for an internship last week and am going down to their office to have another one next week! Hopefully it will end up well! I'm so excited! Anyways, I just figured I would do a blog update since I haven't blogged for a while!

SWE

I love being a woman in engineering. The last two years I've gone to the Society of Women in Engineering conference and it has been such a fun thing to do. I love getting to know more women in engineering and seeing all the things they have accomplished. This year we went to Albuquerque and it was really neat! I can't believe how much fun we had.
We got to ride up the worlds longest tram to the top of a mountain where on one side it was bright and sunny and perfect for rock climbing, and on the other side, there was a ski hill. It was funny to watch all the different people up there. You had all of us from Utah taking off our coats and running around in our t-shirts because we thought it was so warm, and you have the people from like california and arizona and new mexico thinking ya it was warm but not warm enough to take of their coats. We also took a lot of fun pictures while we were up there!
I wouldn't give up being in engineering for the world.

Goodbye Grandpa Bob

It's sad to say that my Grandpa Bob passed away on Monday. But I'm going to attach the obituary that was posted in the newspaper. It says a lot of his life. He was a great guy and I'm glad I got to know him. I remember when I cleaned his house after Barbara died, and he told me some stories about when he was younger and the river would freeze so they could go ice skating on it. I'm very glad I've had the privilege to be apart of his life. He will be missed!

John Robert (Bob) Meiners
RUPERT - John Robert (Bob) Meiners, 81-year-old Rupert resident, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, from injuries sustained in a farming accident.
He was born Sept. 12, 1927, in Burley, the son of Carl and Alice Blauer Meiners. He received his education and graduated from the Burley school system. He left home and went to northern Idaho to work in the silver mines, but being young and alone, the comforts of home soon forced him to make his way back to Burley.
He met and married Lola Edwards. To this union, three children were born, Robert Orlando, Romanda Fae and Walter Phillip. During this time, he enlisted in the Army and, in 1946, was deployed to Japan. After that tour of duty ended, he was once again called to serve in 1952. Upon his release, the family moved to Idaho Falls for a short time while Bob worked for Lockwood Graders, a potato equipment manufacturer. Bob was instrumental in the planning and development of the companies articulating piler and many other designs used on harvesters, windrowers and self-propelled machines.
When the couple divorced, Bob returned to Rupert and became the shop foreman of the Lockwood facility there. He met and married Barbara Broadhead, and the union added two more daughters, Bonnie Jean and Joaunee Dee Plocher. Shortly after the marriage, his oldest son, Robert Orland, was killed at the age of 14. It was a loss dad never recovered from. Never would there be a very long period of time pass that he wouldn't bring up Robert and how he wondered how life would have been were he here. Two of Bob's closest friends and fishing buddies, Mike and Rick Kechter formed Kechter Brothers and Bob joined the team. He later managed the Logan Farm Equipment dealership in Paul until his retirement.
During all these years, he faithfully held down his other full-time job - fishing. Fish feared him and everyone else wanted to learn his knack. There is hardly a stream or lake in the state that he hasn't fished as well as Alaska and the Washington coast. When the fish season closed, "the gang" grabbed their guns and the pursuit became ducks, geese, sage hens, antelope, deer and elk. But not to be sidelined through winter, out would come the ice fishing gear. He loved taking the grandsons fishing and hunting and lavished them with all his stories. The family tradition of spending Memorial Day weekend at Duck Falls running the rapids in his jet boat marked its 46th year in 2008. It has now spanned three generations.
At the time of his retirement, his grandson, Jeremy, had started the pursuit of farming. Dad had always said his one regret was not buying his own farm in his younger days. So he spent the last 15 years accomplishing that dream by partnering with Jeremy. He loved going in the semi or going out to check the fields and was never shy to let his feeling be known as to what was being done right or wrong. His involvement became an integral part of his life when his wife, Barbara, passed away in 2002.
He cherished the bustle of activity that kept him active and also the time he still spent hunting and fishing with his best friend, Mike Kechter. They had ice-fished at the Minidoka Dam three days before his death. It was while spending the day with Jeremy that he left us. But he would have wanted it no other way. Words cannot express the great loss we feel, but the memories and legacy he gave us binds us together and keeps us strong. His quiet demeanor has steadied us through many storms. He was a lifelong member of the LDS Church.
He is survived by his children, Romanda (Bruce) Berry, Wally (Vicki) Meiners and Bonnie Jacobson, all of Rupert, and Joaunee (Trent) Vorwaller of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Charmayne Scow, Bruce Berry, Masina Berry, Tyler Berry, Shantell Berry, Phillip Meiners, Cole Meiners, Wendy Meiners, Jeremy Vorwaller, Jud Vorwaller, Casey Vorwaller and Jaimi Vorwaller; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters; and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; son, Robert; his in-laws, Guy and Mary McAlister; two sisters; and two brothers.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Rupert LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 526 S. F St. The viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at the Hansen Mortuary, 710 Sixth St. in Rupert, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
The family would like to thank the incredible efforts made by Life Flight and the critical care team of Eastern Idaho Medical Center. Their efforts and comfort were outstanding.
Dad, you are in our hearts and we will miss you always.

Back to School.. Back to School..

Man, school has only been in for almost two weeks but I feel like I've been going for four! Its crazy! I do like my schedule though. Most of the time I am free most of the afternoons, with the exception of meetings and such but that's okay. I am taking 5 classes plus an institute class this semester. My classes seem pretty interesting and I really like all of my teachers!

I also though I would add some of the pictures I've been hording since Halloween basically. Starting with my birthday at the bowling alley, birthday at macaroni grill with my family, black friday!, and Christmas.

Mandy baked me a cake for my birthday. This was a freaking delicious cake! She added strawberry jam between the layers and strawberry frosting on top. It was awesome! Too bad I didn't get to eat very much because I had too much for dinner.

This guy sang happy birthday to me in Italian! It was awesome! He also gave me a flower and Carson wanted to blow out my candles for me!
Me and Carson with my flower and piece of cake!

Coolest present ever! I love bridges! They are hanging on my wall! I really like them. I also got a really cute willow tree figurine of a girl with a cat! It sits right in front of my tv in my room! Its so cute!

This is my family after we ate! We almost got everyone to pay attention!
This is of Brian and me after Santa came and turned on the lights at the square the day after Thanksgiving

Phillip and Alli and their kids with Santa! When we went to Rock Creek to see the house with the lights!

Also, I got a wii for Christmas! And it has rocked! I've been playing Mario Galaxy in my free time! I have over 30 stars! And I bought mario brothers 3 with my wii points! And I finally have two controllers!
